This policy explains what Hive collects when you browse our website, contact us, submit a rental or partnership inquiry, or complete a paid tenant application—and how we use and protect that information.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Hive, we may collect:
- Contact and inquiry details, such as your name, email, phone number, message, housing preferences, move dates, property information, and referral source.
- Tenant application details, including date of birth, the last four digits of a Social Security number, social-profile information, emergency-contact details, and uploaded identity documents.
- Payment and identity-verification status. Payment-card details and hosted identity checks are handled by Stripe; Hive receives transaction, verification, and status information needed to administer an application.
- Technical and security data, such as IP address, browser and device information, form-security signals, server logs, and website usage data.
How we use information
We use information to respond to inquiries, match prospective residents with homes, process and review applications, accept application fees, verify identity, communicate about services, support residents and partners, prevent abuse, secure the website, comply with legal obligations, and improve Hive.
How information is shared
We may share information with service providers that help operate Hive, including hosting, database and storage, payments and identity verification, email delivery, bot prevention, maps, analytics, and customer-support providers. These currently may include Vercel, Supabase, Stripe, Resend, Cloudflare, and Google services. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety, in connection with a business transaction, or with your direction.
Hive does not sell personal information for money.
Security and retention
We use administrative and technical safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. Uploaded identification is stored separately from public listing media and is not intentionally made public. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
We retain information for as long as reasonably needed for the purposes described here, including application administration, fraud prevention, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, and legal compliance, then delete or de-identify it when appropriate.
Your choices
You may ask to access, correct, or delete personal information, or opt out of non-essential communications, by emailing hello@hiveny.com. We may need to verify your identity and may retain information when legally permitted or required. Rights can vary by where you live.
Children and changes
Hive is not directed to children under 13. Tenant applications are intended for adults age 18 or older. We may update this policy as our practices or legal obligations change; the date above shows the latest revision.
